About the Australian Koolie Rescue

The Australian Koolie Rescue (AKR) was founded with the mission of rescuing and rehoming Koolies in need across Australia. With the breed increasing in popularity, so too has the number of Koolies either being surrendered to pounds or to rescue organisations. To meet this demand, AKR was formed and is now run by a small committee led by our president, Christine Wilson.

We take in dogs from Australian pounds, the RSPCA, rescue groups and private surrenders. As part of our commitment to the breed we also try to promote education on topics such as the danger of double merle breeding. We run a number of events across the year including herding events and fund-raising BBQs.

We are volunteer run and all proceeds raised through our events and donations go directly to the dogs in our care. If you would like to help the rescue please head over to our “How to Help” section to learn more.
